BBQ and Fire pit Safety
on the Campsite
Fire pits - Only our firepits to be used and these must be put onto the slab provided to protect the grass.
Raised BBQs - Our insurance requires these must follow fire safety regs, be at least 50cm off the ground and at least 5m away from any tents or structures.
Disposable BBQ’s - These can be used with appropriate stands but must not be placed directly on the grass or benches. If you do not have a stand, please request bricks and a slab from staff to put your disposable BBQ onto.
Rules to follow:
* Site the fire pit or BBQ outside and away from overhanging branches.
* Clear a metre area around the fire pit or BBQ removing anything that could catch fire.
* Leave wood or coals upwind and away from the fire.
* If using a match, throw it into the fire after lighting.
* Never leave the fire pit or BBQ unattended; an adult should supervise the fire pit or BBQ at all times.
* Be aware of the nearest sand buckets. There is one available by each fire extinguisher.
* Never put anything but wood or charcoals into the fire.
Open camp fires are not permitted on the campsite under any circumstances.
No Fireworks to be set off at any time on any part of the site.
